A major fundraising charity concert Hope will be held in First United Methodist Church of San Diego on Saturday June 7, which is put together by ACCEF and SDCA, with supports from other community organizations and community leaders.  The concert will feature among others, renowned musicians such as pianist Cecilia Bao, singers Kathy Bai, Zeping Cai, Anna Carson, Xintong Ping, and Sylvia Wen, and violinist Xuesong Wang.  Check www.sdcausa.org for more details.

While the musicians raise their voice for Sichuan earthquake, let us show millions of Sichuanese affected by the disaster that they have friends in San Diego, friends who care, who understand, who are willing to lend a helping hand.  People in Sichuan have lost their loved ones, their homes, their savings, but not their hope!  Let us help them rebuild schools and their lives.  Let us give them a beacon of Hope

Please join us for an evening of songs and music to benefit Sichuan earthquake rebuilding efforts.  The ticket costs $20 each and all proceeds will be donated to Sichuan earthquake relief funds, especially funds to build safe schools in the disaster-stricken areas.

One night can make a difference.  Join us and support the earthquake rebuilding efforts.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email info@sdcausa.org.

. Fundraising in Zion Supermarket

Time:      Saturday  (05/23/08)

                09:00am-6:00pm

Location: Zion Supermarket

4611 Mercury St
San Diego, CA 92111
(858) 268-3300

Update1: [Saturday 05/24/08]

We received $968 in total today.

Plan:

We contacted  Zion Supermarket and got the permission to hold fundraising inside the store during this weekends.

One rule: We can't park in supermarket since they don't have enough parking lot. Street parking is always available. If a vehicle, which belongs to our group, is found in either parking lot, we will be asked to stop the fundraising and leave the premises immediately.

At least 10-15 volunteers are needed. Time shift will be applied. Each volunteer takes a 3 to 5 hours' shift. Since this time we can stay inside a building, sunlight will not be a problem. folded tables and chairs will be supplied by market.

Zion is a popular supermarket among Chinese and other Asian group, we believe this fundraising will be more than successful.

. Urgent Need for Tents  and Medicine

Update3:  [Saturday 05/24/08]

The first 34 tents have been sent to East West CFS inc, and will be sent back to China on coming Tuesday or Wednesday by China Link Express Inc.

        http://losangeles.china-consulate.org/chn/news/topnews/t438859.htm

Receipt will be available once those tents are checked by China Link.

Update2: [Friday 05/23/08]

        响应大使馆的号召。国内急需一些可以净化饮用水的消毒药品。希望有人或者公司团体可以捐出一些。

Update1: [Thursday 05/22/08]

We will send the first 27 tents to LA consulate this Saturday, if you have some more, please contact us as soon as possible.

Another 7 tents were sent to us. Thanks to Mr Fu, Mrs Zhao and Mr Xie.

Urgent Call:

L.A. consulate is calling for supplies donation, especially tents and medicine.

China Link Express Inc can ship all tents for free. Due to some policies, only brandy new tent be can exported to china. All we can do are
1) find some good tent sources with reasonable quality.
2) find some nice people or group who can help donating some new tents.
Sometimes, donate something in urgent need is more important than donating money.

. UCSD学生寻找接待家庭申请计划

—— A new host family plan
